HUGH SEYFARTH REPRESENTS CLUB ON PUMA KING COACHES TRIP TO MANCHESTER CITY
CU Technical Director, Hugh Seyfarth recently returned from what he described as "an unbelievable trip of a lifetime". Along with 12 other professional coaches from North America, Hugh was invited to the Puma King Club VIP Coaches trip to visit Manchester City Football Club, from January 29th - February 1st, 2024.
The purpose of the trip was for each club leader to discover, learn and observe behind the scenes at the Manchester City Academy with the goal of bringing back their findings to their respective clubs here in the US and Canada.

The itinerary was comprised primary of long days and unfettered access at the “Heart of the City”, Manchester City’s world-renowned Academy grounds. While at the “Heart of the City”, the group learned from Manchester City staff on topics such as talent selection & recruitment of players, individual player development and a player-centered approach through game play. The group was also lucky enough to witness several City Academy teams train as well as being privy to a specialist session on "How Data is Used for Recruitment & Development".
Seyfarth described this opportunity as "An unbelievable experience of a lifetime. To be immersed in this environment that is dedicated to excellence and to the game that we all love....what a place to be!"
Cincinnati United Soccer Club's relationship with Puma and designation as a Puma King Club is what made this opportunity possible. CEO, Blake Decker, who traveled on the inaugural visit to Manchester City in 2023 remarked, “Our partnership with PUMA Soccer continues to pay dividends, most importantly, to our players. Opportunities to educate our technical leaders in world-class environments, who, in turn, influence and support the development of our coaches has a direct impact on the environment we create for our players at Cincinnati United SC. We are grateful to both PUMA and Manchester City for their investment in our club, staff, coaches and players.”
In Hugh's words "They let us in on the special things they do here" and when asked about how he looks to transfer his discoveries back to our club he commented that "My time with Manchester City validates many of the good decisions we are making at Cincinnati United-from holistic player development to how we as a club teach players how to play and enjoy soccer."
The impressive messaging and decor around the Academy includes the phrase "This is where it all begins". Our aim is to mirror this approach at Cincinnati United Soccer Club.
Here is a list of the other clubs that joined Hugh and CUSC on this trip:
AFC Lightning (GA), Charlotte Soccer Academy (NC), Jacksonville FC (FL), La Roca (UT), Rebels (CA), South Carolina United (SC), So Cal Blue (CA), South Georgia Tormenta FC (GA), South Shore Select (MA), Space Coast United (FL), Suburban FC (CAN) and West Ottawa SC (CAN).
